Hi

I have been creating my own electronic music for the past year or so using 'Sonar' to sequence all of my hardware (2 synth racks, 2 drum machines, a sampler and an Electribe EA-1). These are all fed into my 'Allen & Heath' mixer. I also use a hardware effects unit. I have also used a few midi effects in Sonar, but I mainly use the hardware effects.

It all works fine for me, to create my tracks, but I am thinking about playing live sometime and I am looking at buying 'Ableton' for this purpose.

I am only looking to buy the basic 'Ableton Live Intro' as I do not need all of the soft synths and extra sounds, that I presume you get with the more expensive versions. But advice here would be appreciated.

I would also like some advice on which midi controller to buy. I am mainly looking at the 'Novation Launchpad Ableton Live Controller' as the price is good and I feel I only need a more basic pad.
I have also looked at the 'Akai APC20 Compact Ableton Performance Controller' as the price is about the same.
Then of course there is the 'Akai APC40 Ableton Controller', but this may be a bit expensive for me.

I do not really want to mix the tracks live (perhaps with more experience). I want to have the tracks sequenced beforehand so that the hardware will just play the tracks live, but then be able to mix one track into the next so that the music is seamless. I will also need to change the programs on my hardware for different tracks and change the effects unit programs, but I wondered if I would do this manually.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks Leon
