Subject description: The interactive G2 E-Book
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Now available.

Building autonomous synthesizers and FX architectures will give one freedom to express thoughts in (self) organized patch structures. The use of this freedom of sound and composition, I explained in the interactive eBook SoundLab I ©.

SoundLab II ©

New tools to individualism.
While making these patches I became aware of the fact that there are so many fields,
like e.g. astronomy, mathematics, DNA research, IT development and neurotransmitters,
with comparable functionality.
It is in the way these fields are organized that we can recognize patterns.
What amazes me is the connectivity and parallels, in so many fields finding its way into
modular sound design now, by cabling these findings into patch architectures.
It was a challenge and especially fun to bring and connect this fields together.
Certainly it will be a challenge for everybody's creativity in finding new ways in
modular sound design.
This e-book is not for lower level users. The modules are not going to be explained.
The patch structures with accompanying text and order explain a way of thinking by themselves.
You always can consult the G2 Editor help-file.

How to use this interactive eBook?
It is a modular system which you first can explore and analyse.
Patches, or parts of patches can be copy/pasted to new patches
and/or performances to get new structures.

*Learn how to use the modules and connections to quickly build robust patches, and get comfortable with high-level patching
*Learn through examples that illuminate today's best modular styles and program design techniques
*Understand the "rationale behind the rules": why modular synthesis works as it does
*Use the extensive cross-references to help you connect related concepts and insights
*Benefit from up-to-date learning aids that emphasize key points, help you to avoid pitfalls, promote good practices, and reinforce what you've learned

Have you rebuild and tested it pyrosonic?
I don't give the answer instantly Smile
And by looking at its structure you can really find the answer.
Hint: have a look at the triggering of the Pat Gen.

Here's my guess for a good laugh - by adjusting the swing parameter of the clock generator (e.g. by connecting aftertouch to it and 'tilting' the G2 with key pressure) the pattern sequence generated can be 'tilted' about while remaining within the same bars.

I don't really understand what you mean by "tilt" hence my iPad joke referencing the tilt sensor, but I'd say that Jima's theory about the swing sounds reasonable?

You know,Roland, maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing to keep doing:brain teasers for the modularly inclined.Who knows? you
could save some of us from dementia by keeping us cerebrally active!

Okay Laughing . What causes this Logic Drum&Noise?
I had uploaded the pch, but deleted it again. Try it first by seeing the pic/rebuild it.
Without noise osc, this 1 gives you Drum&Noise. Fuzzy hey? Smile

Here is the pch. How many ways to 'unchoke' the logic?

I've waited in case of other answers but... increase seed to say +5 for 1 method. I haven't had much time on this one yet but my initial hypothesis is that over-triggering (i.e. premature triggering) of the percussion oscillator by the random trigger is causing aliasing hence the noise. More to come but how about we see if anyone else chimes in Smile

Yes Jim, your hypothesis was right but there are a few more to fine tune the choked logic. Therefore the last pch. Study that and you will find the answer Idea

When you hoping to release the next Soundlab?

I really can't make much sense of these patches, logic is hard to fathom I find away from my machine (hard enough when in front of it. Smile )

Smile @ Ross.
SoundLab II will be released April/May 2012.
People who bought SoundLab I, or ordering SoundLab I and II in one go, will get a discount.

There is a huge part in it about logic. Especially in making patterns. It all will make sense.

Good stuff, looking forward to it. I need to set some time a side to disassemble these patches above too.

But I will start easy for you.
Example: 2 NAND gates as 1 AND gate:
