I have been building the MARSH Panel and was wondering if anyone knows what orientation i would have to put Bourns 25 turn Cermet Trimpots if i decided to use them instead of normal trimpots for 5K and 25K ?

I used this type of pot on a recent build of this module:

http://www.rapidonline.com/Electronic-Components/50k-3296y-10-3-8-Cermet-Trimmer-Pot-68-0426

The spacing of the Y-Type trimmer is an easy fit to the holes in the PCB and it will only fit one way round.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Cheers Magman

That's what i have. Bourns.

The legs are in a straight line so it can go in two ways.

That's the problem i have...

Can you remember , adjustment screw up or down ?

(If we look at the pcb with the components facing us and the 5K trimpot on the lower right...).

cheers

cL

Actually , after looking at the page in the link you posted a bit closer ; i can see that the 'Y' leg configuration is the same as what the straight leg configuration would be with the middle leg bend forward...?

Would you agree with that Mag ?

To be honest, it doesn't matter which way round you install the trimmer, as the central wire is the wiper and this is the key connection.

Both trimmers in this application are set up as variable resistors, so you can just adjust the pot to give the required resistance regardless of which way round it is installed.

Hope this helps
