hi im new, when does the hazing begin? :) |

Hello, Im a 19 year old Mass Communications student from New Zealand. I have played bass on and off in various bands for about 10yrs. I've been listening to experimental music for a while. Last year I went to a performance by Oren Ambarchi/Tetuzi Akiyama/Alan Licth and it finally clicked why experimentation is so important.
Since then i have poorly recorded a few improvs on a dictaphone (they have parts that are good and others that are errr...ummm... not so ). Also I've been dabbling with electronic music for about 2 years, I made a soundtrack for a friends short film.
Overthe last 3 months i made 4 soudscapes (11 mins in total) that I'm really happy with. Im looking for somewhere to put them on the net. Anyway thats me. _________________ "Paranioa is energy" My friend's Uncle |

Welcome AWM,
a dictaphone ! that's the right way to start !!
You could upload some stuff overhere, there are lots of interested people around with "constructive remark"capabilities.

Glad to have you here...
Hazing, huh? No one has ever asked for that. OK, take your dictaphone machine and lift it over your head and hold it for 2 minutes. That should do it. _________________ --Howard

Sure, you can upload here. Check out the attachment stuff in the new message window. Just you try to post a new message, but do look around and try that "Add an attachment" button. You will figure it out. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

It seems we are kind of colleagues: I study communication, too, in the University of Helsinki, Finland. |

Watch out for the 20Mb limit though!
Anyone know how long it'll take before that limit resets? _________________

There is not automatic reset. We don't have a policy about increasing the quota. We are entering a new phase here where the site is starting to demand a lot of resources. We see this as an area to address ane we will. _________________ --Howard

Is there a possibility to remove attached files at a later date when I think they have outlived their purpose - in oreder to make way for new uploads? _________________

That is a possibility. It is a good way to conserve resources, but the the historical preservation is gone and any converstations about music are lost with it. _________________ --Howard

@mosc:
So if I undrstand you correctly the function for removing attachments is already part of this forum?
And what do you mean about losing discussions about music? Surely the discussion would still be there - just the attachment would be gone? _________________

Yes, we can remove attachments. What I mean is - what good is a converstion about music that nobody can hear? We might as well remove the entire topic, but that would be a big loss in the continuity of the community. _________________ --Howard

I removed that really big file in my introductory post.
For the sake of historical correctness I will reencode it and either re-post the attchment or host it somewhere and post the link. _________________
