I haven't been participating as much on the forum as I should, so thought I would at least share my latest work in progress:

http://soundcloud.com/remst8/birefringence-v0-10

This is a drone piece tracked in Renoise using a single sample (6 seconds from a field recording I took of the Jubilee Line railway in London) in a ping-pong loop, played back at a very low rate and occasionally pitch-bent down/up, processed through several DSPs with their parameters modulated via 3 LFOs (with one of the LFOs driving the frequency of another to keep things moving). I have several ideas for making this into something more, so stay tuned.

Comments/questions welcome! If you're so inclined, you're welcome to take this and do your own thing with it, too.

And in case you were wondering what "birefringence" means:

Thanks for listening!
Michael

Here's the latest version of Birefringence:

http://soundcloud.com/remst8/birefringence-v0-20

For v0.20, I sampled about 7.5 seconds from a section of v0.10 of the song and folded that in (fades in around 3:21). Then, I sampled an electric guitar VST, mangled it a bit with more DSPs and LFOs, and sprinkled that in various places as an effect. Oh yeah, and made the whole thing about twice as long as v0.10. A few other processing/parameter tweaks here and there, of course.

If there are any fellow Renoise users out there, I'm happy to share the .xrns file with you if you're interested. I'm using a total of 3 samples and only the native DSPs.

As always, comments and questions are welcome.
