I've finally setup my +/-15V PSU on the testbench, and I'm gonna try to ressurect an old idea.
However, I'm wondering what people think about the supply for a circuit like this.
I want to bring in modular CVs through the ADC0804 which is a 5V TTL device, 8bit. And then the data out will go into CMOS world, before coming back through R/2Rs and an op-amp, to +/-10V.
My gut reaction was to run the CMOS off +15V. That's gonna be there for the output op-amps anyway,....but.
As I have to put a 5V regulator in for the ADC0804, should I just run all the CMOS on +5V as well? CMOS generally go 3V-15V supply IIRC. There's no reason not to run the CMOS off 5V is there?
Would it affect the aliasing on the DAC at the end?
Remember, it's gotta be shifted back to +/-10V at the output anyway.
I hope that makes sense! Cool Laughing

I'd say yes, run them from 5V, since you need to adjust the levels anyway and this gives you more
headroom for the opamps (see other CMOS Waveshaper thread Wink).

I agree with Phobos on the 5V option. When I tested it as an lfo I used +/-5 so it could modulate negative too.

This is exactly what I wanted to say, but couldn't find the words. With a 0V to 5V digital domain, it is easily shifted up to the +/-10V output.
