Listen to Fast And Furious 13
Kyle Gann in his article “Just Intonation Explained” mentions Terry Riley saying: “Western music is fast because it's not in tune” then he continues: “Equal temperament could be described as the musical equivalent to eating a lot of red meat and processed sugars and watching violent action films. The music doesn't turn your attention inward, it makes you want to go out and work off your nervous energy on something”.
If that is true for 12ED2, it is even truer for 13ED2 (Equal Division of ratio 2:1 into 13 steps of 92.308 cents each)!
This piece is the result of my prolonged exposure to this dreaded tuning system!

I like what you have made out of this tuning. Now I understand why it's so hard to make ambient music in ET13! _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

you are perfectly right
for that kind of stuff you really need Just Intonation (much better than 12tET).
Thanks for listening _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

Thanks for listening |
Yeah, I have just begun flirting a bit with just intonation, but need to really sit down and work on it a bit more. I have been playing a few things "by ear", using pitch bend and several takes, and also an iPhone app called Bebot to find out what kind of intonations I instinctively tend towards. Just intonation is sweet, but that is not always what I have been naturally following. Maybe give it some more time.
I am also considering the Haken Continuum fingerboard, and will hopefully have the chance to try one out in the near future... _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum
