ALFA CENTAURI

*** The 10th Alfa Centauri EM Festival

the 10th edition of the Alfa Centauri EM festival will take place at: Saturday,
may 15, 2004 Theater de Graaf Wichman
Huizen (Netherlands)

The (partial) festival line-up:

* DWELLER AT THE THRESHOLD from the US
* FRAGMENT OF A DREAM from the US, consisting of Dave Fulton, John Duval, Paul
Vnuk (of MAJALE) and Giles Reaves (of SPACECRAFT)
* FREE SYSTEM PROJEKT from holland, with Ruud Heij, Frank vd Wel and Marcel
Engels
.....and at least two more acts to announce soon !

Alfa Centauri members have already received information on how to obtain their
tickets.
All other ticket sales for this festival will start as of november 15, 2003.
Ticket prices: 23 Euros for Alfa Centauri members, 26 Euros advanced booking and
32 Euro's at the box-office

At this moment already 60% of available stalls has been reserved or sold. We are
happy that quite a lot of old and new artists and organisations have plans to
present themselves at the festival. Of course we will publish a list of
participants and stalls on our website in time.

Furthermore we are currently negotiating with a couple of manufacturers and
dealers of synthesizer and studio equipment for having some interesting new gear
demo's at the festival. Because the theatre venue has a separate floor with
large and smaller rooms, we can arrange for a couple of extra slots in the
festival schedule for demo's etc. Again we will publish more details when time
is appropriate.

*** New magazine !!

As we announced before in the KLEM magazine and in the previous newsletter, we
have been working on plans for a
new Electronic Music magazine. Since we have asked people to let us know if they
wanted to support this idea
and if they could give us a hand of help with writing reviews of EM albums,
events etc. we have received quite a lot
of responses from people that were willing to support the news magazine. Even
some of the prominent reviewers currently writing
for KLEM magazine have promised us their cooperation.
At this moment we are working on the rough outline for the magazine. We will
work with a team of reviewers / editors and the layout and final editing will be
done by a chief editor and myself.

The magazine will be published in the dutch language for the first period of
time and it will be issued every 2 months (6 times a year).
To obtain the magazine you will have to subscribe and pay an annual subscription
fee for covering postage and printing costs. We will keep that subscription fee
as low as possible as because it only has to pay for the real expenses necessary
to exploit and issue the magazine.
Subscribers will be given some interesting opportunities and offers: for
instance you will receive discounts on tickets for festivals and concert and
also we will have a shop available from some moment in time from which
subscribers can buy CD's and some of them for interesting (and sometimes
extremely low) prices.
Former Alfa Centauri subscribers will be offered the chance to continue their
subscription for the new magazine.
If you are interested to receive this magazine or if you want to know when it
will be available, please send an email to magazine@quantumproductions.nl and we
will add you to our mailing list !
More details to be announced soon ....!

*** Alfa Centauri and Quantum Records website

As because of the new activities and products/services offerings from Quantum
Productions and Alfa Centauri we are currently renewing our website. But it will
take some more time to have it ready. Please note that the current website is
not -very- up to date, although we will publish some actual news messages on the
main screen for the time until we have the new site ready.

*** Studio facilities and artist promotion

As said in our previous newsletter we have a range of new products/services
offerings from the new Quantum Productions company. One of them is a line of
products, specifically meant for (upcoming) artists.
If you are an artist, or if you are making music that you might want to release
on a CD album, you can use some of the next offerings:

1) use our studio facilities (a very sophisticated studio with loads of
synthesizers (including a huge doepfer A100, a Minimoog voyager, waldorf synths,
akai samplers, access, clavia, korg, roland, oberheim, ensoniq , kawai, yamaha
and emu synths, a Mackie 32/8 analog mixing desk, professional Genelec and KRK
monitoring, digital harddiskrecording with a Motu 2408mk3, a couple of PC's
running Cubase SX, wavelab and lots of plugins and VSTi's, such as Atmosphere,
Pro53, Kontakt, Absynth and much more), controlled by a Mackie controller, and
much more)
2) we have a complete process available for mastering and producing your CD
album, including manufacturing at the CD pressing plant and artwork. We can
offer interesting financing and production options to help you releasing your
music through our record label.
3) support: we offer several courses and hands-on support for using your studio
and synthesizer equipment. Not only can you visit our studios to learn working
with this equipment, but we are also able to visit you and help you with your
questions, supporting you with connecting or building a studio, buying gear,
making the best use of your gear and more...
4) and of course: artist promotion, if you have your music produced and
manufactured and released through us, we will help you with promoting your music
and distributing it within our huge international EM network. Also we offer the
opportunity to play live at one of the concerts or even at one of the alfa
centauri festivals.

so, if you are making music, and you are considering to release your music, or
if you have any questions about your studio, your gear or your music, you should
seriously consider to contact us via studio@quantumproductions.nl (for technical
issues, support and facilities) or artistpromotion@quantumproductions.nl (for
producing and promoting your music)

Our website will soon contain more details about these offerings.

MISCELLANEOUS

*** New Lightwave Album

Christian Jacob of Lightwave wrote us: "....We are happy to inform you that our
new album will be released in january 2004 by "Signatures", the Contemporary
music collection of "Radio France" (French public radio organization). Its title
"Bleue comme une orange" is drawn from a famous poem by French surrealist poet
Paul Eluard. This project has a long history... It started in 1994 under the
working title "Malibu"... and it went through various steps of studio
recordings and production... This album opens a new path in Lightwave's musical
explorations: short ambient and melodic compositions, mixing together electronic
minimalist soundscapes with acoustic instruments at the forefront, "Bleue comme
une orange" pushes forward the concept of "electronic chamber music" that is
behind most of Lightwave's productions... It is one among our most intimate
projects so far... and we hope you will love it just as we do... We would be
very thankful if you could help us in advertising this forthcoming album among
the e-music community. Review copies will be available in december. Kind regards
Christoph, Christian and Paul...."
