I seem to remember there being an archive of DX7 patches converted to G2 but I can't find it anymore. Is it still available? The only one I could find (below) has a dead link and I don't think the converter runs on Mac does it?

Oh well I couldn't find any so I put the conversion tool on my Windows laptop and converted my favourite banks. Here they are:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5646041/DX%20to%20G2%20conversions.zip

this is not everything for the DX7 but a lot of banks you can find on the net are the same with different names so I just converted a selected bunch but it includes the DX7 and DX7 II factory ROMS (the mark II has much better patches) plus some well known collections such as the late Tim Conrardy's and even what appears to be an attempt to emulate some of Brian Eno's patches that I remember him posting the details of in an old magazine.

If anyone has any particular favourites I've missed I'd be happy to convert them too if you can send me the sysex.

You may want to ask G2-Ian. I think he was one of the key people involved with the DX conversion tool as well as the DX conversion project.

Wow… thanks for posting your large collection of DX7 to G2 converted patches.

I need to further explore the Yamaha DX7 (and the Phase Modulation) capabilities of my G2X. These converted patches will help with that.

I’ve been a big fan of subtractive synth sounds since I first heard the Moog and ARP synths used on so many of my favorite records starting back in the early 1970’s. But I’m also intrigued by the sounds of the Yamaha DX7 synth and its descendants. I have a Yamaha SY-77 and have had success with programming the AFM sound engine. But I look forward to exploring and patching new sounds on my G2X.
