Marconi's Shipwreck Subject description: Another G2 only release |
|
|
Afternoon all, as ever, I've been lurking around in the background keeping an eye on all the ridiculous patching that's been going on.
This post is another one of my slightly spammy (but hopefully pertinent/interesting) transmissions to alert people to my latest release.
As ever, it is a longform (72 minutes!) single live take stereo recording of my unexpanded G2 engine hooked up to a Behringer BCR2000 and a couple of delay pedals (DD20 and RE20). All the 'movements' if you will are built in single slots and performed live with no midi sequencing, editing or other processing taking place apart from a tiny bit of mastering.
Oh yeah, it's also a 72 minute long DVD, all of which can be viewed in full at this blog post - http://erstlaub.co.uk/wordpress/out-now-marconis-shipwreck/ along with some other links and info.
If you feel so inclined, you can buy the DVD or download via the Broken20 store at http://store.broken20.com/album/marconis-shipwreck
Apologies if this is a bit spammy, I've always really appreciated the support and interest of this community with regards to my releases.
All the best.

This looks like a great project but I haven't had chance to listen to it yet, sorry, am posting from work.
Did you do the transitions using the delay pedals and then load new patches in the background etc?
Did you spend a while practising it and getting a running order of ideas together or was it just off the cuff?
Cheers

Ah cheers.
Yeah, the delays are covering up the gap while a new patch loads. I started using the RE20 a few years ago because the DD20 is so damn good and accurate that I kept ending up with phasing issues of waves either doubling or cancelling themselves so the RE20 is there just to confuse time a little.
I don't usually tend to really practice the sets, I write the individual bits usually based around a theme and then work out a rough sequence, within the patches there are various tweaks assigned to knobs. It's then just hitting record and seeing what happens in the midst of it all.
It can be a bit depressing working this way when you get 40 minutes into a recording and royally screw it up, this recording was the first time I'd attempted to play through it in its entirety.
I didn't really mean for it to end up being quite so long, my usual releases are around the 40 minute mark and even those require a bit of investment from the listener so was a bit wary of this but it seems to have gone down fairly well which is nice.
Cheers
