Jan Punter's Midimod |
|
|
For every midi cc freaks, i can recomend Midimod of Jan Punter. I didn't play with it for a while, but now i'm doing this on the very moment. And i still love it! Esp. for drones and fx it's a joy to listen to (in this case) the rnd midi settings. A scala from composers like Stockhausen , Eimert, etc is comming by. This is a must have for experimental people.

click on software. And there are other very nice related links for NM/G2.
So, thanx Jan(again). |

Go to Jan Punters website. Go to software, where you can find the program.
The pch i've put here, is a sort of example. In this case i tried to emulate Jan's program. so if you want to use this patch, kill all midi stuff in the lower part and then use midi mod on it. Last edited by Roland Kuit on Fri Mar 04, 2005 10:13 am; edited 2 times in total |

MidiMod kicks ass!
Especially the GUI! What a novel idea... okay, sarcasm off. I really dig the program and how it works, though. I heard Jan say it was a childhood sin, somewhere?

I'm not that young anymore, but a sin nevertheless :-)
In retrospect I think it was an illustration of what I found was missing on the NM Classic - but now we've got it all on the G2 of course.

Yes Jan, you're right about that, but it saves space in the G2 patches. |

I missed the patch yesterday somehow ... had tough week I guess ;-)
That's a very nice set of bleeps you made to sing to me Roland, thanks !
(And a very good example of what the NM Classic was missing !!)
MidiMod is very outdated & clumsy & barely working of course - although me to I still like the idea behind it.
I'd like to do an update some day, but messed up the graphic's code in an attempt to make it skinnable & nice looking - I'd have to clean it up first but now the G2 does it all I'm less motivated somehow ...

Yes,
G2 this G2 that. But what about us poor MicroMod owners? Huh?
We want something that looks and works similar to the Modulars, else we'll get future shock and skin-o-phobia.
But I can imagine the lack of motivation, haha.

Thanx Jan, and i can understand your lack of motivation. But what i miss in the G2(or do i miss something?) is a modulator input for the midi controller module. And you program has that:) |

Well, I think every MicroModular owner should use MidiMod for sure!
It gives you more possibilities!

I fully agree, Wout. It makes the perfect combination, especially seeing the visual and methodological similarities.
Just trying to get Jan motivated some more

I'm on XP, too. Wether I load the patch right from the forum, or from the file I downloaded, I get "Error" in the synth display and "Synth Exception. Error in Synth..." on my screen. Once another pop-up showed up and read "Severe error" or something of the like. I deleted all MIDI-modules in the patch, saved it, loaded it, same thing.
So, no Ode to Jan for me.
Jan, you don't want me hear singing, do you? You shouldn't...
Update: works with 1.30. Beautiful, thank you! |
