Hi! New to the modular analog world and those BL Red VCOs look mighty fine and cost effective to my cheap ass... BUT I just got done reading about the ZTO drama between Ian Fritz and Blue Lantern. SO I am kinda wondering about the quality of the Red VCO module... Anyone have any experience with them? are they any good as far as VCOs go?
~~~thanx in advance
I don't have experience with them, but in general I think it's best to stay away from thieves and pirates. There are a lot of honest people in our community, and they deserve our support.
If you are doing DIY stuff, there are some really good VCOs from Cgs, MOTM, Musicfromouterspace and many others.
If you are just looking to buy something, there are also lots of good solutions out there.
One question - which format are using?
Thanks
Gary
ah my bad, I am eurorack all the way....
I am aware of the other options for VCO's however, the price BL offers can-not-be-beat...(and I am not made of monies) but this exact thing worries me. WHY is it that cheap I wonder, will it conk out after a year?
I won't touch the zero thru module BL offers out of principle, and the same issue makes me wonder if he ripped off someone else however.
(if that is a thing w/ saw-core VCOs...if that is what they are called)
I'd love to assemble my own BUT I have horrid soldering skills.
