Synestesia |
|
|
This is the music I created for a dance choreography "Synestesia". The choreographer is my girlfriend's sister, and she created the work with eight high-school dance students, who also performed the dance.
I created many different sounds and musical ideas while the choreography was taking shape, and those which fit best the direction the work was going were selected to be developed further. So the dance affected the music, and the music also affected the dance.
The music is in four parts, but I left the first part out, because I dont have enough web space at this time, and because I feel it is musically the weakest part.

You could upload the first part here on this page. I think it is a crucial part of this work and deserves to be heard too. |

Did you record a piano, or is that a sound module? Curious which one, I've been looking for one.
Nice works... |

This is fantastic music. I would love to see the dance performance, but his stands up on it's own. Excellent. Congratulations... _________________ --Howard

The piano sounds are recorded from an upright piano which has had it's keyboard and front panel removed, so the strings can be plucked directly.
One thing I like about this work is that all sounds are either recorded or programmed by myself. The drum loop in part 3 is taken from a project we made in a recording course in university musicology department studio a few years back. The voice in the same part is the choreographer singing, recorded in the same session as the piano in the Theatre Academy studio.
BTW, Thank you for your comments |

Very nice. I like this. At times the echo seems to get a bit too dominant for my taste, but you handle the transitions well and it stays interesting throughout. _________________ --Howard
