KORG Minipops 120 Easy Sync Out Mod Subject description: You can do it! |
|
|
Hi all!
Since I´m in love with the sounds from my minipops 120(yes, the drums with the silly name), I had to find a way to sync it to my modular stuff...
Turns out, it´s very easy to do!
There are the schematics available at this place:
http://www.estecho.com/gear/Korg_Mini-Pops_120.php
In the left upper corner of them you see the "oscillator" which is connected to
some "dividers"...
There you´ll get the CLOCK OUT.
First unplug the power supply!
Now open up the rear panel, unscrewing only the four screws that are placed in a square (i did also the THREE, not so clever it turned out). Also carefully remove the 5 jacks from the panel. That´ll look like picture 1.
Now you simply solder a wire to the third pin of the first divider chip (see picture 2,3).
Since i disapprove of drilling holes in such a fine machine, i then disconnected the "fade in/out" jack tip-connection (I´ll never use that function from a remote switch) and taped that wire to the ceiling of the box. Now use that jack for routing your clock signal to the outside - done!
There also points for triggering the sounds (output of diode matrix), but as long as my machine´s working that flawless, I´m not going to mess around with stuff.
Cheers!

hey, thank you very very much i do it and it's working, in any case on my SQ-10 → MS-20.
it's very simple !!! by cons, I had to remove the "chassis", removing 4 screw under the MP120, and 3 screw from iron chassis in order to get to pin12 on sn611 (divider?) to make welding .
do you think it's possible on a minipop-7 ? |

This is great - I've just got a Minipops 120 and it sounds incredible!
Has anyone managed to find a mod for Sync IN? My guess would be to disconnect the timing oscillator and feed and external clock into the divider... Anyone tried it? It's be great to give the Minipops a DIN Sync input. |

Will check the schematic but sounds reasonable, maybe measure what kind of pulses are sent(-5?/+10V?, who knows?)... |

I just recently picked up an SR120 and I'm also interested in trying to figure out a clock input mod. It seems like the triggers and clock signals are negative going but I can't really see a good place to disconnect the internal clock. Anyone make any headway on this? _________________ http://www.recompas.com |

Also interested to hear if anyone's done a clock input mod. |
