I am a noobie soon to be stream operator. I'm not sure if I am supposed to do this here, but I am volunteering to help stream-op the end section of the show since I live on the west coast of the USA.

No laughing now... Smile ok, you can laugh.

I have a copyright question. It's not about samples, it's about melody (another artist's song).

I would like to use a melody from a song that's not mine for two measures and/or two bars, as it fits in nicely with my thematic melody (same key, same tempo).

Is it legal to perform it in a live broadcast under the Fair Use clause of copyright, since it's used in a Medley format? That, and does this concept fly with the electro-music "charter"?

Please let me know, Shane.
I left out who the artist is, on purpose and song so it's not a searchable item.

Melodies and Song lyrics are copyrightable. Chord progressions are not.

All music performed, streamed, or dj'ed at electro-music must be original music and sounds by the original artists.

electro-music does not pay Ascap or BMI for the right to use other people's material. Thus, EM and any artist that used others sounds, melodies, samples, lyrics, music, etc would be in violation of copyright law and could be held legally accountable.

So , short answer... No please don't do that Very Happy

Twyndyllyngs will take our regular program slot, but if needed, we can certainly cut down to 1/2 hour.

Opps, just looked at the schedule and you already did that. Smile

I'd like to use the photo at this link for my performance slot. Not sure where to put that Rolling Eyes

Below is a photo of my messy, wire-tangled rig. A Chat with PHOBoS and Antimon appears on the laptop. (Thanks for the port check, PHOBoS!)

1. Nechville Universal Meteor, synth-ready 5-string electric banjo making its debut
2. Ableton Live (including a couple Applied Acoustics softsynths)
3. Roland GR-33 guitar synth
4. Pacarana / Kyma

The banjo, some effects in Live and I are doing most of the work. The rest are supplying The Kawaks.

Glad to see you will be the stream operator on duty for the late night shift of the June Solstice Event. That way, I won't feel obligated to stay up past my bed time. Smile
Seriously, its nice to have another West Coast stream op. Congrats.

I can only add photo's that are uploaded, so did that here (resized it, so it doesn't mess up the radio page).

Hi , could i update my old photos that come up on the radio page when Epicyclus port is on, Thanks.

Summer moon, a pic of central Copernicus crater and the Apennine mountain range.

Copernicus , the shadowy crater in the middle is 107 Km across , the pic was taken with a dslr camera attatched to a 1000mm x 120mm refractor telescope from just out of town on a hill side.

Dave.

Great pic! My niece did a series of sketches of the visuals at the lunar terminator throughout a month many years ago, looking through a small refractor. The drawings were beautiful, and her science teacher loved them, but the science fair judges were not impressed with a low tech study, I guess. I hope she still has them, will have to ask.

You normally supply the metadata yourself - this is what will show up in people's players when you are playing. Is that what you meant?
