Strange bugs |
|
|
I plugged the G2 into the computer today for the first time in a few months, and found some strange behaviors that I can't explain and haven't seen before.
For example, I can't change the patch level from the keyboard. I can change it in the editor, and the LEDs respond. I know the encoder is OK, because if I go into the individual edit screens I can use it to select other things, eg release time on an envelope.
Other encoders work fine in the Patch Setting screen, but not level. This is a drag because I usually want to change that on every patch. Also, the variation selector buttons don't work. That is, the physical buttons are OK if I go to the Morph settings screen or something, I can select variations from the editor software, but not from the front panel.
WTF. The first day in 3 months that I want to do some modular programming and I have to deal with stupid software glitches on the front panel
Of course I tried turning it off and on several times, starting with and without the software editor, plugging and unplugging incoming MIDI. Next I will try reloading the OS I suppose.
Can anybody guess why? |

Update: the encoder actually works, but it doesn't update the panel display (in the LCD or on the encoder display collar) for patch volume, or transmit it to the editor software. Instead it transmits MIDI volume on the current channel. In-patch parameters are fine.
I have Local Off but I don't think that's making a difference...is it? |

Yes, Local Off will cause your G2 to ignore some front panel controls. _________________ varice Last edited by varice on Fri Jul 26, 2013 10:27 am; edited 1 time in total |

Thanks for that. I thought I was going nuts, especially when I had just (re)solved the little bug where it doesn't respond to incoming MIDI clock if the editor is already open, requiring a reboot.
At first I thought my nightmares had come true and that the encoder had died, thank heavens it's just being quirky. |
