Hello,

I have built two MFOS envelope generators and would love to add an LED to each to show the envelope output.

I thought the best way would be to incorporate this circuit:
http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth_new/SOUNDLABMINISYNTH/soundlabmods/soundlabmods.html#LEDINDICATORS

Where the output was tapped instead of an IC.

Of course, these circuits use +/- 12v. Can I just use a resistor to draw some current from the 12 volt (3.33 Ohms) and then the 1k to the LED?

I would just use a 1.2k or 1.5K resistor--whatever you would use if you just wanted to hook the resistor and the LED to power and ground. No need for multiple resistors.. I would expect it ought to work fine. Transistor LED buffers are pretty common.

Yep, I used a transistor based LED driver on my MFOS ADSR, too, but it runs with +/- 15V. I think I used 1K there.

I did it and it worked for me - used a 1.5k resistor from the 12v supply.
