How to tell if the caps in the schematic are electrolytic Subject description: No markings on the schematic |

Hi,
I want to build the following amp and preamp, but I'm unsure as to what capacitors are electrolytic or not, since there are no marking on schematic to suggest what cap to use. Also, how can I change those 3 pin plugs to standard jacks?
If anyone can help me figure it out I'd greatly appreciate it!

The schematic does not specify, but usually the larger values will be electrolytic (4.7uF and above). Just be careful because electrolytic caps have a + and a - side. Remember when adding the cap at the 7915 that ground is actually the + side. _________________ JacobWatters.com |

I've seen electros as small as 0.47uF, but more commonly anything 1uF and larger will be an electro, with few exceptions.
The curved part of the capacitor symbol is supposed to denote the less positive side: Not necessarily an absolute negative voltage, just less positive than the straight part of the symbol.
Generally how it's drawn doesn't matter for non-polarized caps, but following the convention, in the Amplifier schema the 100uF on pin9 of U3 is drawn backwards. I put a red "+" at the correct end.
In the preamp (and p.s.) the polarized caps at the regulators are correct but the ICs' decoupling caps are backwards. That doesn't really matter, since those are non-polarized, but it's careless drafting.
That diode bridge is slopply-looking, too. (Yeah, I'm a Critic. What of it?)
The 3-pin plugs and jacks could be replaced with stereo ones, I guess.
