I am reusing all the pots and the front panel from an ADC Sound Shaper 2 Mk III EQ.

I was thinking about what I could possibly use the rest of it for, and I got to thinking that it could maybe be used for a 12-band vocoder. It already has two sets of 12 filters. I just need to arrange them in such a manner that they work as a vocoder.

The schematic is on page 13 here:

http://jacobwatters.com/soundtransfer/hfe_adc_sound_shaper_two.pdf

The hollow dots are connection points that have solid core wire that is just wrapped around them - so they make good spots for me to add or disconnect stuff.

Here is what I was thinking:

1. Add a mic preamp, and then send the mic audio into the Right bank of filters.

2. Replace the Right channel filter pots with fix resistors.

3. Add an envelope follower to the output of each of the filters on the Right channel.

4. Send the synth sound into the Left channel.

5. Use a simple LM13700 VCA in place of the pot on each filter on the Left channel.

6. Control the VCA's on the Left channel using the envelope followers from the Right channel.

Do you think that this will work? What flaws or other considerations are there with my plan?

I got some answers in chat. It looks like the filters can't easily be separated, so the vocoder idea will not work.

Any other suggestions on what I could do with this after the pots are removed? I am still using parts I removed from the first one I took apart, so it would be nice not to just add to that pile.
