Hi, I'm all for getting away from this idea of electronic keyboards being a substitute for acoustic equivalents, so I have a couple of suggestions...

1. I wonder if imitating a piano action is really a good idea except when it is used as a substitute for piano players. Piano actions are only that tough for acoustic balance and tone in performance, not because it's actually better for playing in general! Players of early keyboard instruments claim simpler keyboard actions give more direct expressive control. So... what about an adjustable action that allows you to increase/decrease weighting?

2. How about a foot pedal for ignoring touch sensitivity..? When playing certain passages that are difficult to play with an even tone, it would be good to reduce touch sensitivity for those passages by pressing a pedal down. It wouldn't be an on/off switch but one which allows you to include touch sensitivity to a greater or lesser extent. The result would be that, you see a tricky passage and you press the foot down to play it all with a moderate attack volume (or one that finds a smooth average across several notes) then you can release it where more expression is required.

Could this (suggestion 2) be done with available peripherals? That is, could you assign a foot pedal to a MIDI controller that told the sequencer to ignore this pressure information to varying degrees?

Cheers,

JAS
