Subject description: OSC 2 Semitones knob doesnt set osc 2 to correct frequency

Hi All,

Problem is as follows. I setup waveform on osc 1 and set osc 2 semitone knob and fine tune to center position. KBD track is on and SYNC is off. All LFO and modulation is off. Turn mix all the way counter clock wise so only osc 1 is heard. If I play a G# for example and look at spectrum analyzer I see a fundamental of 204Hz as expected. Turn mix knob all the way clockwise so only osc 2 is heard. Play the same G# note now I get a fundamental on spectrum analyzer of 409Hz. This is B 15 semitones above osc 1. It would appear osc 2 is out of tune relative to osc 1.

Has anyone seen this behavior before or know what the cause is. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi antaine,

this is quite interesting.

I have checked this phenomena on my NL2X (with the "X") and I got this result:

Waveform 1 + 2 = triangle, all modulations off, pitch to "center".

Frequency only osc 1: approx. 207,6 Hz
Frequency only osc 2: approx. 207,6 Hz
Frequency both osc (middle position of the knob): approx. 207,6 Hz.
This seems OK!

As you know, often the two osc's are out of sync. But even this doesn't change the frequency/pitch of the osc (checked with frequency software tool).

Some questions back to you: Can you hear the different tuning? Can you get both osc's in tune by the fine tune knob?

So unfortunately I cannot really help you, but try to ask your question in the Nord User Forum, where there a a lot of very skilled people: http://www.norduserforum.com/portal.php

Good luck and all the best to you!

Thanks for reply melmac,

I can hear the difference in tuning clearly. It is possible to get both oscillators in tune but I have to use both the semitones and fine tune knobs. I will post this problem on the nord user forum.
