I could not afford to buy a commercial product, so I took a pedal set from a Conn organ, cut it down to 13 notes (From 37). Then I bought a Highly Liquid midi controller board (about $60). I had to add Neo magnets to each key, and then made a stripboard that holds a Hall Effect switches. Since the Neo magnets are so strong, they switch within about 1/4 inch of the sensor, so there is quite a bit of lee-way in alignment. I have a switch for octave up, one for octave down, and one for note sustain. Works flawlessly!
