I'm wondering if anyone has any pointers on adding an audio in socket for the filter/vca section. I'd like to be able to run audio through the filter and vca, and possibly use it as a modulation source for osc pitch/filter cutoff. Any ideas?? I haven't built the patched out version, just the switch one. I take it I'd need to add another knob to the mixer section, and possibly expand the mixer circuitry to accomodate the extra audio in...?

Seriously, timewarping is probably the best description. Very Happy

... so, here it is the shot:

connect an audio signal trought a 2.2k resistor to R47 (pin 2 side) and the other pole to the ground. I've tried with a cd player for long time without damages on the circuits! The audio signal can be processed by LFO, A-R ENV.GEN. and VCF. If you want to limit the signal in, connect a 100k potenziometer to the 2.2k resistor. I'm not an expert in electronic so I'm not really sure that is the right way do it but it works! ... maybe Ray could confirm us better way or not.
ciao

Ahhhh, the topic gets unlocked. I remember asking for a duplicate topic that I started to be deleted, but then this one got locked and the real topic got deleted. I thought maybe I did something wrong, so I decided to ignore it and move on Shocked Laughing

Now that it's back, I meant to try out the audio in mod but when I moved my Soundlab to it's new case I had to do a bit of resoldering and things went a bit haywire. So I've been slowly working through the debugging process for the past week or so.

v-un-v: No, I'm not Kofi or afromodulator, sorry Smile

now if we look carefully at Rays schematics for Patched Sound Lab
the signal in spot is marked. through 200K resistor but a 100K + 100K potentiometer should work well

Ive fed audio (From a CD player) into this input. It comes back out just like it goes in. Unchanged.

Is it supposed to do this? Whats the point?

I think it DOES get a little whickywhacky but not anything dramatic.

The OTHEr sounds the soundlab makes are fine and dandy while the audio is playing.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Bumping it up.

Looking for answers still.

ALSO, how would one modulart, or incorporate the WSG or APC into the soundlab? Like maybe as a noise source?

The audio in mod is "just" so you could use the filter->vca chain of the SL. If the audio is unchanged the COF may be set too high. Turn the COF knob all the way down and you should hear the effect. If not, perhaps there must be a resistor between audio in and GND.

Also turn the resonance pot up a bit for more fun Very Happy

I have this mod on one of my SLs and it works great with the WSG ^_^

I have used a 150kOhm resistor between audio in and pin 3 of IC4-A and a 100kOhm resistor (or a pot) between audio in and ground. Cool
