Thank You for sharing Mosc !
These stories on their own are great, but the fact that I have used Meyer
gear extensively and not to mention the fact that the company is right around the corner from me is all the more fun!
Good Times

Just did read your story. Liked it and hope you'll find the time to tell us about the performance at Zellerbach Hall.

Wow, what a great thread. Glad this one surfaced up to the "recent" list.

Howard, time for another installment -- how'd the big concert turn out?

I dunno, neither strikes me as particularly "funny" but clearly both should be longer!

C'mon, Howard, lots of free proof readers here!

Actually nice to have this one bumped. I probably would never have found it if it hadn't been.

i think that the best "sound" i have witnessed, aside from Kontakte as set up by Stockhausen, was Tehilim at the Barbican with Reich present.

every violin had a pickup on it and each desk of strings had an overhead mic.

i couldn't tell you what any of the mics were because, despite being 2nd row centre, my knowledge of high end mics is somewhat limited.

after trying to listen to how it was mixed for about 2 minutes i gave up. it just sounded like it was the right volume. everything did. the sound was so good it didn't sound amplified. it just sounded perfect. it sounded like it was the most natural thing in the world to amplify a string section, for classically trained singers to use handheld mics and for DX7's to fit into the orchestration.

it took me months to recover from that gig and the people who most love hearing about it were squat party/free party/rave/festival PA riggers. at least 3 of them have asked me to take them to see "some reich" when he next plays...

I am not an expert on corporate mergers, but as I understand the recently announced Google takeover of electro-music, one of the preconditions is that Grandpa Mosc must complete the telling of this tale before Summer Solstice. No completion of story == no options or other payouts.
