Interested to know what folks do by way of output from their modulars. I currertly run mine into a couple of active Creative computer monitors which sit on top of the cabinets. Not your usual £10 crap - these are two-way, with a 1" tweeter and a 3" woofer (I think), but still wondering if it would be worth upgrading, say to KRK Rokits (given the only person listening is me, and so near-field monitors seem appropriate).

if you are going to be recording then yes good monitors are important
the KRK's will be some improvement and should have a flatter response which will give you a better mix. but that's really only for mixing tracks
For general doodling I just use a 2x100W class D combo amp I made over a couple of weekends (mostly woodwork ). sounds nasty and loud Laughing .

Back then when I had a studio I used Dyaudio BM6A, amazing monitor!
I bought them from Erez Izen (Infected Mushroom), I had to sell them cause of money issues.
now I'm using MSI Unik 5.
To tell you the truth...the Dynaudio is an amazing monitor, but the Unik5 have this bright open sound that I've never heard.
This is a bit much hi open if you ask me, but...I can hear things that I didn't heard in the Dynaudio, I hear dirt, I immidiatly can hear if the mix is not right.
Although its a 5" monitor but it's really going down very nicely.
I actually like them, I will keep them, they are very very good for reference and tuning module to very fine tuning!
