Okay Daniel,
looks like there's an Uncle Krunkus stripboard version of the DS7 happening tonight. Well, I've got about 25 spare LM13700s so it will be a dual DS7 stripboard. Something new might get me moving again. I've kinda been a bit stuck lately.

Hey Daniel,
have you got a component overlay for the dual DS7 w LM13700 PCB layout?
Sometimes it helps with getting the stripboard tight.
Thanks

i don't have a component overlay but you can use the bareilless one - just ignore the CA8030 and proceed as shown here

bareiless overlay

Here's the stripboard layout. I've double checked it, but I haven't built it.

Hey, that´s some art! Enjoy doing that? Looks like a puzzle (to get from the circuit to that layout). And i think it´s built as quick as using a pcb!
And no cpu around Wink
What´s the thing labled ATE on the top left?

that must be the 7805 voltage regulator.

I see. Never noticed in the schematic that it´s run on 5v. Could be 12 or 15 just the same i guess.

Yeah,
I wasn't sure why it's regulated down to 5V, but I just copied the schematic. Maybe you should try shorting it out and see what happens. I bet with a 9V battery and no regulator the envelope follower contaminates the VCO.

BTW,
there are 35 wire links. I always do all the cuts first. Then the IC sockets, then the links, so that by the time you get to the components which look different from each other you have plenty of 'landmarks' to guide you.

cyclops take a good look at the schematics and you will notice it Smile

yes,you can feed the 7805 whit 12V or 15V and that's just fine. i have used it whit 9V battery.

post are flying in like moskitoes Smile

the original DS-7 runs on 9V battery and the schematic is cloned from it, so there must be a reason why the original has the regulator and not just the battery.

Because when C1 starts to charge you get a quick virtual short across the power which is probably too much for C20 to deal with by itself. It would only make the tone slide a bit (which it does anyway)
Well that's only a theory, you'd have to check it out with someone a bit more qualified than me to be sure. Maybe Jan or Stein.

Yeah,
if it's designed for a 9V battery it makes sense to have the circuit set up for 5V, then you overshoot the regulator by 4V and you have a rock solid 5V rail. More reliable.

The differnt parts of the schematic look to me like stuff i find in my modular, running with 12v.
The thing about the short with c1 is interesting. guess you meen c2 can´t handle. But also cabs going to ground, charging and discharging can be found often, in envs, lfos mad many other.

you guys type too quick i can´t get this posted Smile

solid 5v from battery. Sounds very reasonable.

It's strange that we don't go to the chat room in a situation like this. I guess the electro-music crowd just aren't much into chatting. I've been in there to see if anyone is around about a dozen times now and I've never found anyone!
BTW, No, I meant C1. I kept all the designators the same as the schematic and just made the 10uF power cap C20 for clarity. Otherwise it's the same as the PCB (which has a number of pins on the 324s different to the schem)

he guys,

my ds7´s volume is too low, i really have to turn the gain on my mixer WAY UP in order to work with it. how to make the thing louder? i guess it is about changing a resistor value, but in all honesty i have no idea of where to start...

thanks, christian

R33(10K), sits between C6 and one side of the volume pot. Try changing it down to 5K6.

unkle krunkus,

i replaced the resistor, i soldered a second 10k parallel to the first one, i did what i could... the overall volume didnt improve that much.
anywhere else to look at?

Are you sure you've got the volume pot connected properly? Try shorting the output straight to R33 (turn your amp down!)

i got a PM and i touhgt it would serve everybody better if it's posted here.

Hi,

I'm the guy from http://filters.muziq.be (about effects, but also with drum synths etc).

I built myself a small modular of DS-7, DS-8 and Amdek PCK-100 Drum Synths. I received mod info from Marc Bareille for the CV input on the Corons, but then they can not be triggered anymore when there's a jack in that socket. They just make sound as long as there's a CV on that input.

Is that the same with your CV mod?

Another problem I have is that I can trigger the Amdeks with a voltage trigger or audio trigger, but the Corons only respond to audio triggers. Any idea if this can be solved?

Hi DiscoFreq.

Your DiscoFreqFX-site is great! i have visited your site many times before. thanks.

Actually a haven't made any CV mod. but i have made the VCA mod - its for signal only and i have use it as noise input.
Do you have a schematic of that CV mod Marc sent you?
My DS7 can be triggered whit mostly anything, never had problems?

So maybe there are other members of this forum that know better Smile
i know there are.

and welcome to electro-music.com forum

daniel
