I think the midi masterchannel is greatly underdeveloped. If we are going to have it at all - why not have it so any CC# sent on it can be sent to all channels. Variations and morphs, mutes, FX sends etc in all channels could be controlled with a single external controller... could be very useful!

at the risk of being boring. I feel the engine is still a bit of an afterthought on clavia's part and not enough thought has been given to how it can actually be used... a more complete understanding and realisation of midi control is necessary before I can really call the engine a classic synth - its potential is not quite fully realised

Some time ago I made the suggestion to Clavia to assign fixed NRPN controllers to the knobs and buttons in the pages of the slots and the global page. This would basically give the possibility of controlling 600 knobs and buttons over midi. This would imho help a lot in controlling the Engine. And even better: it would allow for little Mac or PC apps that would mimic the knob floater window, and have their own distinct layout. It would be easy to program a 'knobfloater window construction set', where one could place knobs wherever they like and give them just any caption text. Then it could compile into an executable, with in it the patch or performance that the knobfloater belongs to. So, that when launching such an app it would first dump the patch to the G2 over midi and then show a nice control panel for that patch.
They thought it a nice idea, but they had no plans to implement something like that.
