Hi,

first off, I am new to the forum and this is my first post. Hello to you all, and thanks for all the info that you made available here, they are precious!

Although the G2 is an old piece of hardware, I am intrigued and almost on the verge to track one second hand. But I lack some info and I hope that some of you can answer my very naive questions.

I am playing with the demo and going through Roland Kuit's book (a real delight!) and I am wondering about the resolution of the controls and the knobs, especially once loaded on the hardware.

As far as I can tell, each control in the demo software has 127 steps. This seems a bit of a limitation for me, especially when it comes to fine-tuning a sound. First, am I correct that there are only 127 steps? Is there a fine-tuning option? Once loaded on the hardware, is the resolution higher?

Hi moscom, welcome

On the real thing the resolution is the same.

Not sure what you need fine control for, but on most things this can be achieved.

For frequeency control on oscillators you have the cents control.

When a fine tune is not present you can use a modulation input, set the sensitivity to less than max, connect a constant module to that and the knob on that one will give you fine control. When there is no sensitivity knob you can rout the signal trough a mixer first to attenuate it.

Of course this means you need two knobs then to control the parameter, the coarse and the fine control ...

Cheers!
