Here's my AI set, with a little bonus track of ebow-on-Bart-Reiter tubaphone banjo from August thrown in.

Thanks, again.
I would like to see more of the performers post their sets here. FB posts of pics for the event get a lot of likes, but not very much sustaining activity on the forum. I use FB where it's useful, but attention span there is extremely short.
Steps down off of soapbox . . .
Take care, Jan. _________________ When the stream is deep

In 1995 I played mandolin & sang Joni Mitchell's Urge for Going at my brother Bob's funeral in Virginia. My sister's husband Don asked me during the meal after the service whether I could do something similar for him, and of course I said yes.
This summer Don passed while he and my sister were flying home to Vegas from a vacation with their kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids at a beach in South Carolina. I couldn't make the memorial service back here in Pennsylvania (although I did make the wake a week earlier) because Linda & I had bought the airplane tickets to spend time with our daughter Sierra in Albuquerque. So, I made this recording of Simple Gifts, which my niece had them play at Don's memorial service, thereby keeping my promise of 20 years ago. Fortunately, my son Jeremy was able to attend the service. _________________ When the stream is deep

Thanks, Jan. Don's health was in a downward spiral for several years, so at least it didn't come as a shock. I got to spend time hanging out with him when I was in Vegas for a conference in summer 2014. He had lots of interesting stories.
I've become somewhat of a musical Charon at the River Styx for my family. As my dad was fading out in a cardiac ward in January 1994, I was playing lullabies and Christmas carols on a baritone uke with nylon strings, not wanting to make too much noise in the hospital. At one point I realized it was 3 AM and stopped. A few minutes later a nurse walked in and said, "The lady in the next room would like you to keep playing, if that's OK." So I played a few more tunes until I was too tired. My sister drafted me to play one of the lullabies at the funeral, and the tradition started.
The attached pic shows me playing to my mom about a week before she died in 2010. She had had several "mini-strokes" 5 years earlier, and music worked much better than conversation as a form of communication after that.
I am going to request, that when my time comes, my kids play something raucous and loud, maybe some ZIM. I don't plan on that happening for quite some time.

Ah yes, you had told that story about your mother before, and the bit of the nurse coming in as well ... I now remember. It is nice to be able to do that :-)
On my dad's cremation service I smuggled in a bit of my music too BTW, heh only a couple of people noticed that, but it feels good to have done that. _________________ Jan

It's nice to live in a world of music, isn't it? When I got home from visiting my sister at a physical rehab center last night (she had both knees fixed and is recovering), my wife's car was gone. I checked her browser history and saw some relatively inexpensive but rare Yamaha guitar on Craig's list, so I know where she had gone. When she arrived home later and I eventually got my turn, I had a great time hammering bass lines with my fretting hand, somewhat like a Chapman Stick. I am so grateful for being able to make music. _________________ When the stream is deep
