The word is that Ray lost his battle with stage 4 cancer this past Thursday.

He will be greatly missed.

Sad loss of a really big fish in this rather small DIY synth pond.
Thoughts and prayers for the family.

I just woke up at 4.45am to see the gofundme message that Ray had died. I feel numb. He lifted me from a monumental depression and got me building synths (before I joined this forum). I only shared a few emails with him, but it still feels like a friend has gone. I can imagine what his family are going through now (my above mentioned depression started with losing both of my parents within 5 months of each other), but I hope that they can see that he has left the world that little bit better than it was before.

Farewell Ray,

Gary

This is really sad. After Ray had published a spring reverb circuit on Facebook a month or two ago, I was hoping that he was soon going to be well again. It was not to be.

Like for so many, so for me his SoundLab Mini Synth was my first step into the world of synth DIY.

Rest in peace, Ray.

That's very sad news when you visit EFM after a few weeks break.

Very sad news indeed. Like so many others here, I too first got the synth bug from Ray's WSG and Soundlab. And without his detailed documentation I probably wouldn't have started.

RIP

I just saw this, and it has knocked me for a loop. I am very saddened by the news of Rays passing, we have lost a true DIY champion.

I had been getting ready to start my mostly MFOS modular project back up again when I learned Ray was ill. The modules I built with his designs and PCB's all worked right off the bat, and make my synth, and the music I make with it, unique. Every time I emailed him with a question, he responded with the best guidance, intelligence, and humor. He was a true gentleman, and even though I never met him in person, I will miss him.

Thanks Ray. For me, you made Synth DIY fun again.

Terrible news, Ray will be missed. There are a lot of people in the DIY community that learned a lot from building Ray's designs, myself included.
