It's very good indeed, but doesn't half get the fans turning!

I'm surprised, as it's a .NET app ;-D

I just edited 9 hours of recorded mp3's with it in just a couple of hours, cutting out needles silence and normalizing volumes, it's good ! And pretty fast too.

Well it works. You've compressed 9 hours into 2.
I'm sold ;-(*)

Run it under Vista. That will get the other half of the fans turning.

hi mosc, did you try the FREE version of usine?
it is a 4 track modular universal routing, sequencer, great original FXs where you can plug everything on everything, full VST (all parameters are recognized), with pure audio engine!
here is the site: www.sensomusic.com Rolling Eyes

Jan.

Ouwaoo! how many Creations! how much time will it take to have only a look/listen on/to all this? Wink

mpesch3 seems to be good, i've downloaded it and it looks great, thank you.
___I post one precision here about USINE free version ( i did a mistake talking of universal imputs, sory it is not for free version):
Limitations :4 tracks (where you can open MIDI FILES,WAV,MP3,FXS,Bassliners,Sample loopers,LIVE BOXES,etc.
2 Imputs (you can use for ex. :
1_sample your signal,it is looped,treat it,then 1 again ,make infinite ping-pong with 3 tracks Wink
2_use in a multi FXRack ) and 2outputs...
_modular,audio/midi/osc...regular updates,full patch build/mail exchange!(very kbytes cheap) likeMAX/MSP,Reaktor,Reason.
it works easy with ASIO4all, (about free)...

Okay, let me just do the "all in one" free modular post.

Maize studio, the "free modular live audio environment" (vsts)

http://www.maizesoft.cn/ms/download/mssetup.exe

the "final" version of the ASIO4ALL driver (required for Maize studio) released JANUARY 21ST of 2008 (don't ask)

ASIO4ALL

and how could I forget
the lord of all VST stash spots:Mega Stash Spot--->I would consider this to be a more intelligent approach to finding the "freebie" VST plug ins. Just play around with the search parameters until you find what you're looking for.

If you've never played around with VSTs before, that should keep you busy for about 8 years.

If you have any problems with the audio quality (skips, ect.) go to your start menu, click ASIO4All v2, then click "asio offline settings". Play around with the settings until you achieve optimum/working performance.

Best wishes!

I did load it and fire it up. It looks very impressive - sorta like Abelton Live.

Thank's Mosc, Senso would be honored about this,
I think that some features are like AB.Live, but much like other softs, mix of Max/Msp, Cubase for the sets-up...
there is no marker warp but a good granular time stretching who plays regarding bars and beat.
I must do a patch with a tempo calculator, so we'll just need to cut the file well (starting and ending points have to be prepared in an external audio editor for now).tempo detector will help!
this year the sample window will be relooked entirely to allow more loop precision and avoid axternal editor... Wink
but the big difference is in Usine ability to audio analysis, beat and harmony;FXs;FFT domain;MIDI scripts with auto harmonize inclued;total ability to route the signal at the end of audio process, save the set-up and midi allocations, i don't know other live performance oriented software with the MIDI channel number=track number? i use the same control number for my UC-33 controllers then one slice is one chanel, up to 8 (then change preset for more)
[[sorry,4 for free version Smile ]] it allows to copy patch to other tracks in real time while midi controls are already allocated!
i'd like to post a topic for multi-groove possibilities...
anyway, next month Usine will be a VST plug, and it will be the entire version, inside AB.Live or your favorite VST-Host!

I tried this out and it is really quite something, IMHO. I have seen other programs that do similar things, but this one is free. It's very easy to use and very flexible. I haven't been using VSTs very much (maybe for eq and reverb and stuff in multi-channel mixdowns) but this little program could bring me into the fold. Thanks for posting the link to Maize.

This VST is one of my personal favorites. It's hard to figure out how to beat sync it, but that's part of the fun. After all, it is modeled after an analogue synth...

It is based on the original Arp 2600. Very fun.

Arppe2600

I was lucky enough to play around with an Arp Odyssey for a few days-one of only a thousand made. I had every dog barking within a 1-mile radius.

And, I suppose I can share some "special" stash spots with you all...

synth emulations

original synths

top secret!shhh!

Not as extensive as the Kvr stash but each has a nice little selection.

P.S. If you run into a ".rar" file, do not be alarmed. It's just like a ".zip" file, you just have to download a special decompressor to "un-zip" it.

It's a free audio editor which supports VST plugins - the site has a pile of free ones to download too. I've only used the basic features, but impressed so far.

Thanks TheShaggyDA, this is a very nice tip !! At first sight I'm impressed too.
I still have to explore this tool more thoroughly, but it looks very promising.
And, althought the info says : "Windows 98, Windows XP and Windows Vista", I can confirm the use with W2K as well.
It even reads multi-channel wavs, great.

Wild one, check out visual analyzer:

http://www.sillanumsoft.org/

It works great. I was going to say that it's only good for AC but check out that simple interface they have to make a dedicated hardware input through USB. Very cool.

Anyway, I use VA all the time, well a lot. thumb up

I recently stumbled upon a collection of several very powerful free VST synths. Most of them have a mod matrix and a couple of them I would consider nearly full-blown modulars. I reccomend giving Oxytocin a download.

You can get them here:
NovaFlash

"Microgram" is also excellent. Something that really stands out about these synths is that the arpeggios are all perfectly timed and can be layered manually over a drum track without worry.

P.s. follow the yellow brick links...
