USB hub dual output |
|
|
Hello, I'm searching for a piece of gear for an installation I have to do, but (could u believe this?) apparently it doesn't exist.
Now, what I'm after is having 2 syncronich outputs from a USB hub that feed two different computers at the "same " time, so to control the 2 without having to configure a LAN.
Does anybody know if this exists (I searched quite a lot so it'll be REALLY good knews), or must think of building one myself (and I am not sure, no, I am seriously doubtful of the results--time problem too)?
Thanx _________________ I wanna upgrade myself |

What are you trrying to do?
Keyboard/mouse input -> two computers? There are simple monitor/input switches with USB that can do this but that might not be what you are thinking about. Wouldn´t something like VNC and ethernet be a less messy solutiion? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

thnx for the suggestions, but what I am after is getting people to play with a game on computer A, and getting the same information to pilot several filters on computer B through a small app I did with Max; everything controlled by 2 joypads.
I'm searching for recursive patterns or proportions... so eventually everything must be converted to MIDI data (recording of the events), or OSC, still hadn't decided.
I'll try out your suggestions anyway, but wanted to see if it was possible to keep it a.s.a.p. (plug and play)
ciaociao and manymany thanx _________________ I wanna upgrade myself |

I see. So basically you want to pick up mouse coordinates from computer A, send these to computer B and use this data for controlling something else?
This info is accessible from the operating system but there might be issues depending on how the mouse data is passed through application layers and windows on A. Theoretically a ver small app made in RealBasic could catch this info and then translate this into midi or whatever. I don´t think midi modules are bundled with RealBasic, but I might be wrong. Anyway, I don´t know a better way to do it. Some kind of programming is probably called for.Direct USB leeching is theoretically possible too, but some programming is needed here too. One possible option is to build a new mouse/joystick . _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

USB is not a multipoint protocol, so you are going to have trouble if you try to do this. Since everything is going to be converted to midi anyway, why not just use a midi thru to replicate the stream? |
