It is with great sadness that I announce that my friend and colleague, electronic music pioneer, composer and educator, Halim El-Dabh has passed away peacefully at the age of 96 at his home in Kent, Ohio on the 2nd of September 2017.

I'm very sorry to hear of the death of your friend. Like Dylan says, it's like a corkscrew through the heart.

I had not heard of Halim El-Dabh. I did a search on Apple Music where there are several of his compositions, mostly in anthologies. There is even a piece he composed on wire recorder, which I think was recorded in 1943. This is certainly one for the very first, if not the first, musique concrete or "tape music" works. I have never heard a transcription of any music on wire recorder. He also did a nice piece at the Columbia Electronic Music Center.

All of his recordings I came across are well worth listening to.
