The Future of Waveshaper TV

In August we’ll be putting our Patreon page into PAUSE mode, and there won't be any new Waveshaper TV episodes until further notice.

The time has come for us to evaluate whether or not it's feasible to continue with Waveshaper TV. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem that it will be. Truthfully, we had much higher expectations about building a Patreon audience - we figured by 8 months in we would be up to at least $1000 per month, but since then, it's become apparent that even that would not be nearly enough support to make this a viable proposition. Realistically we would need at least $2500 per month, and that is looking more and more like a pipe dream, unfortunately. For those who haven't been looking, we have yet to crack $500 per month.

The main issue here is that producing 2 videos each month is about 10-14 days worth of post-production work alone. Our director/editor Robert has been handling this up until now, but as his focus has shifted to editing the Electronic Voyager documentary, it just doesn't make sense for him to focus half of his time on these videos, when we're taking in less than $500 per month. We would need to hire a freelance editor to take over this work, and we're not going to be able to get anyone good to work for us without offering a reasonable rate.

For those of you who have supported us on Patreon or on our documentary fundraising campaigns - we have appreciated you all for supporting us, letting us know that you understand the value of what we produce, and acknowledging that quality content doesn't get produced for free. THANK YOU!

Even if supporting Waveshaper TV financially isn't an option or something you're willing to do, we hope our videos have been informative and entertaining. Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to watch!

Our Patreon will remain active for the month of July, so if you want to make a gesture of support by signing on now, that would be greatly appreciated and will provide us with some food for thought as evaluate Waveshaper TV’s future. Once PAUSED, you will not be charged for subsequent months if you remain a Patron. If you do sign on in July, you will still get access to our vast archive of Patreon-Exclusive extended edits. Our Patreon-exclusive extended edit of Suzanne Ciani, for example, is 7 minutes longer than the public version…
