Calendar Event: October 1, 2005

Saturday, October 1, 2005

Mark Jenkins - UK
Orbital Decay - Pennsylvania
Xeroid Entity - Pennsylvania

Fels Panetarium - Frankin Institute
Philadelphia

MOOG ON THE MOON
A tribute to the life and work of Robert Moog

I ran into Terry from Orbital Decay at last week's Gathering concert. He said he was expecting to play at a Robert Moog tribute on October 1 at the Franklin Institute in Philly. Can anybody confirm this? Terry said that he was short on details and questioning whether it was really going to happen. He listed other Electro-Music alumni who were also rumored to be part of it too.

Steve

Here's a link directly to the ad you need to copy and bring to get free admission. I'm brining a few extra copies of the ad for friends. And note, it starts at 6:00!

See you there.

Well, how did it go? Was there a good audience?

It was a fun gig. We played from 6:20 PM to 10:30 PM. Each of us did two sets and then we did a couple of real nice jam session. The organizer said about 120 people came through during the evening. He said they liked the music.

The graphics were very good, but they repeated. The best graphics happened when Mark Jenkins did his sets because there was a nice beat for them to sync with.

It seems to me that Panetariums are great places to play space music. -- DUH...

We are in the process of setting up a live performace of Mark Jenkins' music for streaming this Tuesday afternoon. Stay tuned for details. It should be a great "show".

Thanks to Mark and the staff at the Fels Planetarium for setting this up. It was a fitting tribute to Bob Moog. Between all of us, there were at least 8 Moog instruments - Voyagers, MiniMoogs, Taurus, Etherwave Theremins, and others. No, I didn't bring the Moog Modular.

This is my favourite shot. Hong does a wonderful job on the photography.

Mark played the minidisk recording for me and the music was FANTASTIC!! Too bad I couldn't participate. I was playing a wedding gig with my Classic Rock band Pulse so at least I earned a little cash while having fun with friends. I really need to clone myself!

Cheers,

Hong does a very good job with a camera. I especially liked her shots from EM05.
