Hi everybody,

I am absolutely new here, and I will start with a question which will probably upset pro and experienced people here. I am looking for a good substitute for a piano which I can´t afford, because of space and money problems. So I was looking for a digital piano , also too expensive. Then looking for keyboards (I know it´s not the same, but we are aware of it) and somebody offered me a KORG IS 40 for 350 euro. What do you know about this model , could it fit at all our needs.

thanks for any help

Hi cyberfranz
welcome to electro-music.com
the Korg iS40 is a nice keyboard if you are looking for reading/playing midi files, for automated comping etc. I don't see it, at all, as a piano substitute. Have you checked the Casio Privia PX110 Question it doesn't cost much more than the used iS40 but it's brand new (I am not sponsored by Casio!)

thanx for the advice.
I knew that it was no substitute, but looking at the price (i think I can bring it to 300euro) it seemed to me a good choice, to get an instrument which was also much more versatile. What can you tell me about his price, is it a good chance?

Thanx

A piano? One of the most decent budget digital piano thinges around is the M-Audio ProKeys 88 ( http://www.thomann.de/thoiw5_maudio_prokeys_88_prodinfo.html )
This is a bit more expensive but it is reasonably good.
