Greetings... I made this trance piece yesterday on my - BAND PAGE - called "Final Euphoria".

SO far, I'm happy with the direction the production is going, except I need to be able to give the bass more drive during the climax without it chewing up the kickdrum. Where it's at is ok... just ok, it lacks warmth during many key parts of the song. It would be better if I could turn on the volume during the louder parts without the bass muddying up other things.

You think I should layer something below it with a tad more resonance? I could also use some general tips on what would make this song even better.

I don't really have any suggestions, I'm pretty new to this. I really like it though. I'm composing something simalar right now, but it's not near as good. Hopefully I'll learn Smile

You could try to compress bass and kickdrum togheter i mean in the same compressor.be carefull to set up the right attack without cutting away the attack of the instruments too much.

Moreover maybe you should try a sort o f bandpassing for the bass.cutting useless high and and avoid too low frequencies in the bass, that usually chews up kick drum.

This type of processing let you pull the bass up more so you can have more presence without interferences with the kickdrum.

It should work out!

Try and let me know if you can

I think you might want to read the topic "what is bass?" from a while ago in the production section. There is a lot of info there on the psychoacoustics of bass, it's effect on the listener and practical implications in dealing with speakers and headroom.
