Once i build this famous 24db moog ladder filter. The one with the ladder formed by 4 cabs and 10 transistors. I was using ic holders(?) because i was afraid to cook my transistors. Well, while inserting them i noticed that the sound changed with each transistor i put in while listening to the output. I guess that every c forms a 1 pole filter.
Now, wouldn´t it be pissible to build a big ladder with many stairs and some sort of swiching circuit that controlls which transistors are active? than you could have a big rotary swich going from 1 pole over 3 pole tb303, classic 4 pole, Virus 6 pole to whatever you want. possible? reasonable?
What do you think?

Like this one?
The difference between 2,3,4 poles is pretty subtle but switch positions are cheep.

I saw something on the Synth DIY list, not very specific but the idea is to keep the resonance path on the final stage and just shift the tap points for the main differential output amp down the ladder, so a two pole switch should work.

Hi

Well the trick is as g2ian says. A very good example of this is Tony Algood's super ladder filter :
