NAMM 06 meet (&pics) |
 |
|
Folks,
Simply put, this was my best and most successful NAMM ever, hands down. The Clavia guys are great, and warm folks.
Why is "meet" in the topic? Well, at one point there were 4 of us G2 guys at the Clavia booth: davep (Dave Peck), Sean Charles (not on the list), jamos (Jim Johnson), and me. These guys are great, we spent some while talking and checking out the show over a few days ... One of our favorite places was the Analog Haven booth --- modular heaven!!! Real patch cords , droool ...
In addition I met at least one more user who's not on the forum yet, but he promised he'd show up.
Pics and writeup will follow, but I just got back. Good night!

Yeah! My feet are killin' me, my ears are ringing, my head is pounding, I'm exhausted, I'm going through caffeine withdrawal, I'll probably spend too much money on new gear in the next couple of months, and the whole friggen show is one big blur.... It was a blast! Great to meet Dasz & the other folks!
Other than meeting the G2 guys, some of the highlights for me were spending quite a bit of time patching a $20,000 Buchla 200E and a 80+ module Doepfer system. And when a couple of people recognized my name on my badge & thanked me for some of my patches. Made me feel like a rock star!
BTW: Dasz - check your PM - I sent you the reverb patch. |

Hey, you are a star. You have the number one selling CD on electro-music.com!
Anyway, sounds like you guys had a great time. Wish I would have gone too. _________________ --Howard

Of course you would have had a great time, but to be honest, it wasn't as much fun as electro-music 2005. That's going to be hard to beat. See ya in June!

Thanks! Glad you like the CD. Here's some trivia - on the last track, "Fluid III", I didn't actually play any of it. The piece was made by recording several different drone & "tonal noodle" patches into the DAW and editing them together in Sonar, kinda like an old tape manipulation piece.

It was great to see all you guys in person, finally. Perhaps we can plan a get-together for NAMM '07!

Yeah, having 3 sound designers in one shot was a keeper. As was getting the guys behind the code, and SynthLord (Clavia North American Distributor) ...
These are all nice guys. Until you meet them in person, it's hard to picture how nice these guys are --- how much passion and heart goes into what they do. Do remember, Clavia is not Yamaha or Roland, its like comparing Ferrari (not red pun intended) to GM or KIA or Fiat.
So, gomidas, are you 4 people, or is that a Kraftwerk avatar
