I finally got my G2 expansion board for my Engine last month and I can't believe how much difference it's made already! No more 'stolen' notes or tails cut short, fatter sounds, more extravegant patches, etc. I'm loving it! My G2 has definitely been getting used more!

This is a bit of a pointless post really, but I just thought I'd share my recent good fortune and heartily recommend any other unexpanded G2 users to upgrade without further delay! Very Happy (I don't work for Clavia by the way).

Yes you do, or just did, in the sense that a happy user is a strong selling point. They just don't pay you I guess Very Happy

Anyway it is always somewhat hard to explain what makes the expansion board so useful, but you've pointed it out pretty well. So I don't think your posting to be pointless at all ...

hey sheridan,

it definitely not the same as the NM Classic expansion. Cuz you can load up 100% into voice area and 100% into fx area (running 4 fx sends)... repeat 4 times for slots A to D ... then sit back and enjoy the POWER !!! Shocked

It's made a big difference to me, too. Now, patches aren't stuck at 3- or 4-note polyphony when the DSP passes 50%.

The ironic thing now is that one of my performances got so big it hit the 64k performance size limit. Oh well...

64K performance? Shocked Wow!

The only minor problem that I now have is a lack of outputs!! If I want to use 4 slots on seperate outs for external processing, then they have to be mono and have panning controlled externally, which is a shame when you can create such nice and original panning effects in the G2... oh well, you can't have everything... although it would be nice if there was an output expansion card too (drool, drool) Very Happy .

It was a surprise to me, too. That performance used a lot of seqctr modules. They seem to make patches big pretty fast.

Like 36 bytes for parameters alone, times the 9 variations - so three will cost about a kilobyte of storage for that. And there is stored more of course, but not in nine fold.

my prf2s generaly hit around 48kb at most.

But now you got me curious and I will make a patch to hit aver 64kb --- one expanded slot full so far. 3 more to go -- these do take time.

if one hits some kb limit per patch without running out of dsp% and memory, then such limit should be set higher or remofed unless this is some major system memory issue -- if it is not, it is a bug.
