Pictures of my MFOS Sequencer Subject description: during construction |
|
|
Some of you have already seen the finished article on Youtube, but here are some pics I took during construction. Should probably have taken a couple more, especially on how I do my panels. Maybe next project...
It's the Music From Outer Space sequencer with two analog boards. I didn't use fine tune knobs and opted for two channels instead. The second analog board is DIY as Ray didn't have any spare. I redrew it as a single sided board in Abacom's Sprint Layout.
Here they are:

I'd have to check, but it won't be too much. I used the Alpha pots from Futurlec ($0.50 each) with their knobs ($0.30 each). That makes $25.60. Jack sockets and switches from a local shop, probably about another $25. I had a good deal on the LED holders which included the green LEDs, about $5 for the 17 used. CMOS chips I guess about $10. Ray's boards $32. Passive components I used from my own stock but let's say $5 for those. I used a transformer from an old stereo, so that was cheap. Power supply components also from stock, probably another $5. Wood and stuff to stain it with, maybe $10. Misc wiring, used solder, maybe another $5. The second analog board is from a leftover piece of PCB. I have all the gear to etch my own boards plus to do all the woodwork, which also makes it cheap.
So I think it totals below $125. _________________ http://www.casia.org/modular/ |

Wow, that's cheap. I bet it would cost $6-800 if it said "Doepfer" on it.
BTW, what are futurlecs shipping prices like? Do they charge you for a pound minumum, etc? I've been paying $1 each for my pots and that looks like an excellent alternative, as long as they don't gouge on shipping like Digikey and Mouser. |
