Hi.

I got sidetracked while looking at the Vocopad (factory) patch by Zon Vern Pyles and now I might as well post what I found out.

Vocoder frequency bands.
Band Low High Middle freq
1: <7.943Hz 206.90Hz
2: 204.58Hz 326.37Hz 258.4Hz ~ C4
3: 324.90Hz 461.77Hz 387.3Hz ~ G4
4: 460.52Hz 607.82Hz 529.1Hz ~ C5
5: 606.73Hz 777.65Hz 686.9Hz ~ F5
6: 776.25Hz 973.61Hz 869.3Hz ~ A5
7: 971.85Hz 1.200kHz 1.08kHz ~ C6
8: 1.198kHz 1.463kHz 1.32kHz ~ E6
9: 1.461kHz 1.777kHz 1.61kHz ~ G6
10: 1.775kHz 2.151kHz 1.95kHz ~ B6
11: 2.149coz 2.600kHz 2.36ckH ~ D7
12: 2.598kHz 3.157kHz 2.86kHz ~ F7
13: 3.154kHz 3.882kHz 3.50kHz ~ A7
14: 3.880kHz 4.885kHz 4.35kHz ~ C#8/Db8
15: 4.889kHz 6.415kHz 5.60kHz ~ ??
16: 6.470kHz 7.459kHz 6.95kHz ~ ??

Low and high was measured by the supplied patch. Middle frequency was calculated by exp( (log(low) + log(high)) / 2 ) and note values ripped off some page found by google (and I was to lazy to find the 2 highest values).

Time for envelope follower seems to be 5 ms attack and 65 ms release for all bands.

The emphasis button is supposed to (according to the manual) 'emphasize the high frequencies of the analysis signal' and it does something but I am not sure of what. I'll leave that for another post....

The supplied image shows a frequency plot from CoolEdit.

Regards
Falk

Hi again.

I think I have managed to illustrate what the emphasis button does.

The patch works with band 1, 11 and 15. 2 vocoders for stereo and only one has Emp-button engaged.

Noise is sent through to be modulated and a frequency plot shows that band 1 has the same amplitude in both left and right channel. With Emp engaged it seems the 'synthesizer input' (noise in this case) bleeds through even when there is no corresponding signal in the control/modulation input band. There is also an increase of the amplitude in the higher bands for the Emp:ed vocoder.

If you cross over the 11 and 15 bands on both vocoders and frequency plot that you see that you get more amplification in band 11 (because it is fed the signal from band 15).

Hope at least something of this makes any sense what so ever Very Happy

Regards
Falk
