hi,

i tried to build a mackie control emulation for ableton with the g2. it went not bad, but the "big" solution used too much memory (the reduced attached patch uses 14.1% memory in an expanded g2 for just one button and one incremental knob).

the mackie control's v-pots are incremental controllers. the topic http://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?highlight=incremental&t=2100 discusses incremental controllers and how they could overcome the 127 values limitation of regular midi cc#.

this patch also allows you to assign a knob and a button independently to the g2 frontpanel. it is possible to give the knob and button their own frontpanel description.

the price is the memory usage, if you are lucky, you get a maximum of 8 buttons, probably less, per patch in a regular g2 (or 16 in an expanded) using both the voice and the fx area. another price is: the knob is permanently reset to its middle position and the same happens to the knob's frontpanel led. and you have to "doubleclick" the button, otherwise it disables the knob (that's how the mixer module works).

what you get is three gate signals: button pressed, value increment and value decrement. you can use these for whatever you want. see the textpad for more details.
