After the big setback of having OpenSource2 canceled 12 hours before the event, we found a great new venue for this Month's OpenSource.
It's going to be held at Abbaye on Tuesday May 18.

Here's the details...

OpenSource
at Abbaye
Corner of 3rd and Fairmount
Philadelphia, PA
8 PM - FREE

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend this one. I'll be in Florida for my high school reunion. I wish everyone that participates a great time. I encourage anyone in range of Philadelphia to attend, either as a performer or as a listener. Both roles are important.

This is a great format for making music. If you have a "big rig", here's a great excuse to trim down to the bare essentials.

<OpenSource3> was a interesting event with lots of performers. It was our first event at Abbaye in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia. The place is a great old restaurant/bar with copper bar and ceiling and pretty good acoustics. This night we had solo performances and almost exclusively laptop people. The one exception to the laptop mayhem was David K (Goodnight Stars Goodnight Air) who played a very hypnotic guitar, laser gun and laptop set. Other performers include the Newark, Delaware crew (William Fields, Nintari Man and Cerebral), Mikronesia, Alex Welsh, Brandon, Vytear (AKA Wave Slut), Mykatal and Vostek. I apologize if I spelled anyone's name wrong. We recorded most of the night as 2 long audio files.

Here's a link to the two segments of the night in streaming MP3 format.

<OpenSource3> Part 1 :: 1 hour and 40 min. Featuring Alex Welsh, Mikronesia, Brandon, Cerebral, William Fields, Teddy Jewels (in that order).

<OpenSource4> Part 2 :: 1 hours and 2 min. Featuring Vytear, Mykatal, Vostek, Dave K., Mikronesia (in that order).
