Largely MFoS with Elby, CGS, Yuvsynth, Roman Sowa, BugBrand circuits.
All modules up & running bar Quantizers & Gate to Trig. converters.
I've populated all boards with waterwash solder for shiney long lasting component connections (hopefully Very Happy ).

It's been the simplest faults that catch me out all the time building during debugs but i'm looking forward to starting the bare ASM2
board ..................
when time permits.

Looks awesome! And the panel layouts are right up my alley, inputs and their associated knobs are grouped together and there is still plenty of space to tweak the important functions. How big are those panels? I'm gonna guess dotcom sized, but that could be my wide screen monitor playing tricks on me again.

Nice machine!

Where are you getting your panels made, and how much? I ask since you're located quite close to me. I have a few boards that need panels now.

Hi, thanks , Panels are 100mm x250mm for singles, 400x250 sequencers , 300x250 for soundlab.

I used black plastic jacks for C.V. and chrome for audio through out.
I was lucky enough to catch rapid uk when the shift of non-RhoS components were going for pennies a couple of years back , pvc 1/4" jack sockets for 4 pence each , Bingo lets make a modular for 500 Pounds Shocked

Hello, cheers, i started with an off cut of a road sign from council depot. took the 3mm aluminium to local engineers to slice to size on a monster hydraulic guillotine , then used corel draw or signlab to design panels, first batch were done at council sign workshop on a GERBER system , blue roll of vinyl with white ribbon lasered text & dial shapes from pdf panel.
The second batch were done at a local sign makers shop , ran the designs blue ink onto printable white vinyl. panels were drilled in shed with a template print off .

what a simple and elegant idea! another way to go would be to differentiate inputs/outputs. nice!

For a system this big how did you handle the power supply? did you buy a Premade Pro Regulated power supply or did you build one. I have yet to solve and be able to build a truly Capable DIY power supply that is able to handle alot of modules. I currently build Ray's and I always have to have 2 of them to run 2 VCO's, 2 LFO's, 2 Filter's, 2 VCA's. a 5v midi converter, RingMod, and 2 ADSR's with solid current and no sag.

Beautiful indeed, I like very much your panels, they are awesome !
By the way can you send me a photo of your yusynth clock divider module, I will be glad to add it in the module gallery section at my site.

Hello, recent load check revealed 960mA / 990mA for 12v +/-
& 120mA for the poly-dag 15va +/-.
Home built supply, done a bit of research before building final version.
I start with a 160VA toroidal Xformer 18v/0v/18v output coupled to some chunky busbar tracks on home etched pcb.
Tapping off from the fat supply tracks , 3 power supply circuits , 2X 1.5A 12v +/- supplys & 1X 1A 15v +/- supply .
All three have their own rectifier - regulators - smoothing .
The two 12v lines feed 18 +/- power sockets each & 15v line for the poly-dac. The 12v regulators take the most load so in the pic below you'll see 4 five inch square bits of 3mm aluminium spaced apart with a 12v regulator on each ( reduced heating bills in winter Very Happy )

I probably have to remove the toroidal from the modular and keep it external to the synth , there is a horrendous 50Hz hum dominating the audio output bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

What does it sound like ???.
Here's a little synthpop tune using the modular as 4 independent monosynths (with drums by RM1X & a melody with a Juno 60 near the end).

Hello from Spain.
WOW man! It´s fantastic! It´s the best DIY modular I've ever seen!
Congratulations!
Please I have a request for you, if you would so kind.
I´m starting to build a modular synth using mfos pcb´s. I´m near to be already finish all the soldering work on pcb´s and I´m gonna start to drill the front panels.
I purchased kits from bridechamber and there´s the same mods on oscillators than yours, I mean the MFOS vco they have 3 control knobs and yours and bridechamber 6 control knobs, FM lin/exp input, etc.
Please could you explain me how to do this mods, please if do you have a schematic or Drawing about how to I will be very grateful.
Sorry for my bad skills of English!
Thanks a lot.
Alfredo.

Hi Alfredo.

For the cv inputs on the vco's & vcf's , i used Ray's odds & ends section pot voltage divider 100K pot & 10K resistor....the top design of these 2.... http://musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth/oddsandends.html#POTDIVIDER .
I am in the process of adding an 8 channel Ray Wilson simple audio mixer to my vcf's and a 4 channel simple audio mixer for my vca's.

Good luck with your building , hope it all runs smoothly Smile

Hi,your systems is beautiful.

I am about to order my first MFOS PCB. The VCO. I am also going to try and build my own power supply.

My question is why you are using 15v and 12v?

Also are your Dual VCA modules using 15v or 12v? I noticed on the MFOS site he mentions "messing with some values" to get the VCA to work. I would prefferably like to have all my modules using the same voltage supply so I am trying to understand what needs to be changed for the Dual VCA to use 15v.

Cheers,and once again,beautiful!!

Hi apoptosis.

All my MFOS modules run on 12V supply & the Ken Stone design modules i built run happily on 12V.

My ELBY Designs "POLY-DAC" midi to CV converter runs on 15V as well as the soon to be complete KLEE Sequencer.

31 modules are 12V.

2 modules are 15V.

If you are in any way unsure about a power supply please buy a dedicated power unit or make the MFOS wall wart supply (good for a handfull of modules) as mistakes on diy power supplies can cause electric shock or just as bad, a fire in the home.

I am currently in the process of converting my MFOS modules to 15V so I can use a few different 15V modules in the same rack.

I would advise going for 15V as the MFOS modules will all run on 15V, and you will have a much larger selection of modules to use later on. Also, you can easily step down from 15V to 12V, but going the other way is more tricky.
