Wearable Computer Subject description: built on a pair of football shoulder pads... |
 |
|
Oh yes, I'm rather imaginative tonight. I want a wearable computer but I can't afford one, nor have I found one I like. What I do have, however, is a netbook. So, tonight's brainstorm is...
Attach the netbook to a set of football shoulder pads!
It then becomes not just a wearable computer, but a *FOOTBALL* wearable computer! Then I add pieces to it one by one as budget allows. I already have a headset with mic that electri-fire (Mathe) gave me. Then I can add satellite wireless or a projection display (there is a miniature one available now), or a chorded keyboard/mouse that operates with one hand, etc. I can even add my accelerometer device to it...
This is too cool, either that or I'm up way too late. You tell me...

Just think. If our species weren't so full of war we'd be developing these things for the handicapped -- sigh. _________________ The question is not whether they can talk or reason, but whether they can suffer. -- Jeremy Bentham |

Indeed they are Bacchus as Rob said ... the "HAL" suit is being developed (supposedly) for handicap purposes as well. I would link the youtube but its banned on my network here at work. _________________ Myspace | Atmosphera | SoundCloud |

| I would go for a forearm mounted computer... a very small widescreen would do. There are cheap mini-notebooks available now, you could have the screen on the forearm and tastefully detatch and route the keyboard section onto the bicep. |

Not sure it takes much processing power, my phone does most of what he was trying to do with the sixrh sense. Google (mostly) does the rest.

This topic reminds me of a television ad I saw years ago, in which a young man is sitting in the park, with a tiny VR eye-clip in front of his face, buying and selling stock. He leaps up and yells BUY! Ok... SELL! SELL!!! and a ton of pigeons flutter madly off, upset by all the yellin'. Cos he wasn't gellin'. Money he was smellin'. What he was sellin', he wasn't tellin'. _________________ Audiodef official site |

The wearable computer just became a broadcasting studio! I received a $1,000 patent royalty check so I'm going to spend half of it upgrading the netbook with kbd/mouse and cd/dvd then buy a Lexicon Omega recording studio package with a Korg nanokontrol and a mic with stand. Wow that will upgrade the quality of my radio shows tremendously. The wearable is back on the drawing board. Ho ho ho, merry Christmas and happy holidays!
