Chuck error |
|
|
Hi everyone, could you help me with this please?
---------------------------------
Running Chuck on Ubuntu, doing first tutorial:
error
(via rtaudio): no devices found for compiled audio APIs!
cannot initialize audio device (try using --silent/-s)
-------------------------------
I'm not really sure where to start looking for fixes. I haven't found any packages called rtaudio.

You run on 64-bit or 32-bit?
Chuck only works on 32-bit now, so you should run jack as 32-bit too. _________________ Weblog! |

Hmm, the active process on my computer is pulseaudio. I tried starting the JACK control app and start a server but it gave me an error without any details. The script ran in silent mode with no errors though, so it's probably just the audio device setup that needs fixing.
Killed pulseaudio process and tried :
jackd -d alsa
, it said that playback device hw:0 is alrady in use. _________________ ==================

ok, in the jack control app i went into 'connect' and disconnected all, a MIDI thru device was connected to hw:0, I had done that earlier.
Then in a shell started jackd -d alsa
Then in new shell did chuck foo.ck and it worked.
I don't get the error any more,
I hear the output!
Was also able to start a jack server, but is that necessary?

EDIT - it's pretty fiddly but i think it'll work now. Thanks wmonk for the moral support, hehe
chuck version 1.2.0.8 (dracula)
exe target: linux (jack) _________________ ==================
