This patch sets up a control signal that tracks the keyboard note independent of octave (i.e. you get 0-11 for C-B). It does an integer divide of the kbd note signal & gives the remainder. You could use it for any integer divide remainder needed.

You can save some resources by clocking this from another oscillator in the patch instead of using a dedicated clock oscillator.

This seems like it should be simpler than this.
Is there an easier way to do this?

Yes there is an easier way.

Use a note scaler to classify notes into classes of size n, then subtract that value from the original value to obtain the modulo.

See patch, and read patch notes for instructions.

I might have overlooked some scaling/rounding/offset detail, lets say I left that as an exercise for the patcher :-)

To bad the wave wrap module doesn't have anything else besides the triangular form it does. It would be the perfect "modulo".

Now I feel like I "need" a modulo. damn.

edit: nevermind. looks like Jan slipped the answer in under me before I thought it through.

You are not the only one :-)

This wrapper idea with different wave forms might be a way to get math that doesn't look like math, this might be swedish thinking ...

It's the same idea as most of the other "Shaper" modules, as well as the compression/limiter scheme.
