I am looking to get a netbook, and one of its main functions will be as patch editor for my micro.

I am looking at options and wondering if I can rely on ubuntu with nomad or if I should just stick with the old safe windows and the standard editor, which I have had zero problems with, even with really cheap midi interfaces.

I have only used nomad on OSX which I understand is the least reliable of the bunch, but just wondering if anyone has any input on this. Nomad's page still says it is beta and not fully functional, but it seems many people are using it successfully... so just trying to clear up that conflicting info.

I don't really have a strong preference of Ubuntu vs. Windows, but non-windows netbooks tend to be cheaper and I am familiar enough with Ubuntu to install it without much hesitation.

Hi Top Top. Using Ubuntu, I personally don't use Nomad, due to its perpetual losses of contact with the synth. Maybe you should consider a combo with Wine and the Clavia editor, it works for me. Well with only one synth at the time. But I didn't dig the depths of Wine USB configuration…
Also, it doesn't look like there's much activity on the Nomad site… It might stay eternally in the beta version.
