MFOS Soundlab Ultimate (Suitcase) Synthesizer track... Subject description: A track I did using the SL Ultimate |
 |
|
This track was written a while back, as a demo to showcase the Soundlab Ultimate (suitcase) synthesizer. Every sound and drum is solely out of this machine. The only part that isn't is a short sample of my voice saying "Welcome to the future".
Before I had a chance to release it as an instrumental, it got swallowed up by a label who wanted a full vocal production for commercial market appeal (which defeated the purpose of the original demo).
Anyway, I have just uploaded the original instrumental of "Welcome to the Future" to my bandcamp account. It is track 5 on my new album if anyone's interested in hearing what this wolf in sheep's clothing is capable of...

\great tune. Full of momentum without being too busy. Great sounds- nothing like real knobs to twiddle. Thanks for sharing.
I would never have guessed this all came out of one box. I understand why you ask for people to submit their music and not just their build details.
As an aside did you ever hear the first and a bit of the second Logic System albums? Made by the programmer for YMO? Not entirely what you are doing but some interesting ideas. Out in about 1981 |

Interestingly, the Welcome to the Future track has the most "ooomph" to it, compared to the (presumably) 'made in a computer' tracks?
Great tracks btw. Puts me to shame... _________________ ACHTUNG!

Damn, all that time & money spent building & patching my modular, fortunes spent on hardware and it sounds like Fruity Loops... Maybe I should sell up and just keep the soundlab lol
Incidentally there are sprinklings of the soundlab on other tracks too _________________ My tunes available here

I think Fruity Loops is a bit harsh?
OTOH, You could just get a bank of 8 basic soundlab's (cos the basic ones are easier to patch in a hurry), they'd only cost around £50 each. Spend your change on a holiday in the Caribbean?
We need a bit of a SoundLab renaissance I reckon? _________________ ACHTUNG!

Well I actually use Logic to control the hardware, then multitracked.. All my tracks are done this way, then beefed up with soft EQs & 'verbs (same process for WTTF as the others on the album).
I think if I went to the Carribean I wouldn't return; compared to Scottish summers, it's a no brainer
I reckon a Suitcase SL Ultimate, a MIDI/CV converter and a Mac running Logic is more than enough for any budding producer worth their salt _________________ My tunes available here
